INCREASING USER ENGAGEMENT
With digital user content in Wigan
The digital team created a campaign for Grand Arcade Shopping Centre in partnership with local rugby team, Wigan Warriors, who were celebrating being in the Challenge Cup Final.
“I love Wigan Warriors and so does my little girl, love going to the games the atmosphere is so great when the warriors come out. Come on you warriors let’s bring home the cup me and my daughter and my wife will be there. Warriors till I die.”
THE RESULT OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA COMPETITION
We created a page on the Grand Arcade Facebook page where fans could share their favourite memories of the team with the best memory winning a Wigan Warriors scarf.
The competition received 205 entries. This resulted in an extra 205 website visits and 205 emails to add to the Grand Arcade database.
Most importantly, digital users were staying on the page for longer periods of time reading through all the memories that were shared. Therefore, this resulted in the bounce rate decreasing by 10% with 25% of all visitors viewing several pages per visit. We tapped into the community spirit of Grand Arcade shoppers and their loyalty to the Wigan Warriors.
Social media competitions are a great way to boost social media engagement. However, they can also boost footfall in the equivalent shopping centres and retailer, as happened here.
